I have never lived in a metropolis before and I haven't seen so many people in one place. I have never seen such a crowd of lonely and isolated people. I have never been part of such a colorful and accepting culture and I have never, anywhere else felt such an intense energy. I have never met so many superficial and emotionally oppressed people. I have never missed any of my homes after a week the way I miss New York. Nowhere else have I seen so many dreamers. The rawness on New York comes to life in "Lonely-Together", a photo series that attempts to debunk the over-mysticized, dreamy cityscapes envisaged by those who have never been here.
This project is a reminder of the fragility, insecurity and loneliness haunting the city, where survival matters only. The streets are epitomized by the images: exposing the romantic, cruel, but mainly a down to earth experience.
